Gas cylinders behind homes. Small 11 kg ones coloured yellow and larger ones coloured red. A few enquiries reveal that people are turning to gas for cooking as electricity bills increase. I hope to carry out a cost comparison but I suspect that cooking directly with a primary fuel source could cut out the standing charge, the PSO levy, the transmission costs and vastly inflated costs of a duplicate generation system based on fossil fuel and wind. Gas can also be used for lighting as was done long ago. There is a pso levy on gas cylinders, but those living near the border with Northern Ireland can buy there with no levy.
